The Canadian CV is different from the format you are familiar with where you are now. To ensure interviews, adapt your resume.

Learning how to build your CV is crucial in Canada: it is the document that can make you stand out from other candidates in seconds. It allows you to showcase your experience and unique talents. The CV is the reflection of the contribution you can make to your future employer.
However, Canadian resumes are different from their European or African counterparts. This unusual format can be difficult to understand. Canada Talents can help guide you through the process and make your job application successful!

The Promise

Our workshops are organized in sessions of up to 12 participants. Each session includes a one-on-one discussion (zoom or email) afterwards to ensure that you get the most out of the workshop and your resume.

The Program

For 90 minutes, we will look at the key elements of writing a CV adapted to Canadian employers:

  • How to keep your resume succinct?
  • What information should be included or left out?
  • How to adapt your CV to a job offer?
  • How to format a CV for a punchy read?
  • How to avoid mistakes on an English CV?

Following this session, each participant will be invited to send back a new CV within a week in order to get a detailed feedback on the points to improve.

In detail

This workshop will guide you through several key elements of writing a CV that is adapted to Canadian employers. Among other things, we will teach you how to keep your CV succinct and what information to include and leave out - keep in mind that this will be useful on an ongoing basis as you will likely have to write a new CV for each new position you apply for; this is the custom in Canada.
Recruiters receive a lot of applications and don't have a lot of time to review them; we'll show you how to format your resume to make it as clear and easy to read as possible. Recruiters won't want to spend too much time and effort trying to decipher a complicated or messy resume, and having formatting or spelling errors can make you look unprofessional.
Remember, the job search takes time, as does writing and customizing your resume. But with the right tools, you can make it easier on yourself and our workshops are here to help you achieve that goal. They are full of resources and will give you a real edge in your job search.
