The Head of Quality Assurance, Western Canada will be responsible for leading the activities of Quality Assurance across Western Canada, managing a rapidly growing team across numerous production sites. Under the guidance of the Vice President, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs, this role oversees the development and maintenance of Good Manufacturing Practices and Narcotic Control Licensing activities for Western Canada sites. This role leads the strategy and the preparation, as well as the review and submission of documents to ensure compliance with Health Canada regulatory requirements. This role governs the procedures, equipment and other practices that are acceptable from a regulatory perspective. This includes, but is not limited to, GMP, FDA, ACMPR obligations and the oversight of all testing and laboratory work in furtherance of those goals. The successful candidate will ensure that the Quality Systems of Western sites run seamlessly and that their team receives the managerial leadership and guidance to protect the Company while facilitating optimal operations.
Responsible for the oversight of Quality Assurance at Canopy sites in Western Canada
Oversee the review and enforcement of cGMP requirements
Accountable for quality processes; testing production output; the documenting of evidence; the determination of operational and performance qualification and updated written quality control procedures
Stay current with Regulatory changes relevant to cannabis production and products
Accountable for the oversight and management of regulatory inspections, product transfers, personnel security clearances, site security
Ensures regular interactions with regulatory officials, which includes the oversight of the preparation of regulatory submissions, and coordination of responses to regional regulators
Oversees Canopy’s Quality Management System
Operates the yearly, quarterly, monthly and other inventory control related reports and processes
Promotes the development of a company-wide understanding of the key elements related to quality systems and regulatory compliance requirements
Support the Company’s operations as a trusted partner
Other duties as assigned
B.Sc./M.Sc. degree in Biological/Life Sciences/ Bioengineering (Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Biology, Chemistry) or extensive experience and related training
Post-Graduate Regulatory Certification considered an asset
Minimum 7 years direct quality control and/or regulatory experience
Experience managing multiple teams across numerous sites, with proven ability to lead and mentor
Strong knowledge of quality standard methodologies in a pharma or related industry
Advanced comprehension of Health Canada protocols
Advanced knowledge and experience working within a pharmaceutical manufacturing, packaging, and/or warehousing cGMP Quality Management System
Sound knowledge of the Canadian Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations, Food and Drug Act, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Clear communication skills both oral and written
Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
Compelling Negotiation skills
Experience in managing an ISO:9001, ISO:13485, or ISO:17025 environment is considered an asset
Bilingual (considered an asset)
This is a full-time position based out of Vancouver.
