Reporting to the Director of Marketing, you will be responsible for ensuring that all internal and external communication in French reflects the brand standards, is on time and accurate.

Urban Barn is currently looking for a full-time Translator (English to French) at our Home Office in Burnaby, BC. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, you will be responsible for ensuring that all internal and external communication in French reflects the brand standards, is on time and accurate.

What You will Do:

Working side by side our Bilingual Communications Coordinator, you will ensure that:

     *    All internal communications are translated; including product knowledge, training manuals, Standard Operating Procedures, internal blog posts, social media posts (if required)

     *    Customer facing communication, signage and messages are translated in Canadian French

     *    All internal French documents are produced on time, are accurate and consistent with Brand tonality in English

Who You Are:

     *    You have excellent translation skills (English to Canadian French)

     *    You work proactively, are adaptable and are comfortable with peer review process

     *    You have experience in Graphic Design; can edit text using InDesign and Photoshop

     *    You demonstrate willingness to take on additional responsibility, change and to challenge the status quo

     *    You are a genuine "people" person

     *    Teamwork and collaboration are two of your biggest strengths

     *    You use creativity and ingenuity to overcome obstacles

     *    You build positive working relationships with associates at all levels (demonstrate approach ability, develop trust, show respect)

     *    You have a passion for home décor and interior design

What You Bring:

     *    Must be fully bilingual in both French and English

     *    Minimum of 2 years of experience working as an in-house or freelance translator

     *    Strong written and verbal communication skills in French

     *    Must be detail-orientated; can follow procedures, as well as think on your feet for problem solving

     *    Must be able to operate under pressure and meet deadlines

     *    Ability to multitask and manage time effectively

     *    Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office

     *    Proficiency in Photoshop and InDesign

     *    Previous retail experience an asset
