Now that you have thought through your project, reflected on successful entrepreneurs and done lots of research, you are ready to pitch your project at local events. In Vancouver, there are always business events happening! Let’s share our specific picks.
Events for every entrepreneur
Let's start with Small Business Week, organized by BDC in September. It is packed with online and onsite workshops, conferences, advice, and you could even meet the business angel you're looking for there.
In Spring, the American Marketing Association of BC offers a conference where you get the chance to work to strengthen your vision.
An excellent event for entrepreneurs in September is Vancouver Startup Week. In 2017, they hosted over seventy events during this week, including a hackathon for local non-profit organizations.
All year long, Small Business BC has events where you can learn about different topics. Vancouver Public Library also offers classes and workshops, including a special event about small business to get you started.
The francophone and francophile events
The French-speaking community is very active in Vancouver and entrepreneurs can find experiences to suit their needs.
October sees two francophone events. Vancouver en Français sets up Bienvenue à Vancouver, an evening where you can meet experts from different associations and organizations that can help you make your project come to life.
CCF hosts, also in October, the prestigious Gala de la Palme Bleue, where you can find inspiration through the francophone-run companies that get awarded prizes.
Every month, BC Talents from France proposes a networking event with a speaker to tell you everything about a specific topic related to the cultural gap between Europe and Canada specifically in the realm of professional life.
If you are looking to start your company in the creative and cultural sector, check out Enterprising Culture. This event takes place in different cities across Canada, including Vancouver. Co-organized by France and Canada, its agenda proposes panels of discussion, demos and networking.
It’s Spring all year round all year round thanks to this organization, who sets up events on a regular basis for entrepreneurs who want to make a social impact.
